Adelaide Fringe Review: Bubba-Licious

Gluttony: Bubba-Licious
FAMILY-FRIENDLY ADELAIDE FRINGE REVIEW: KIDDO reviewer, Anastasia, took her kiddos to the perfect show for babbling babies and wide eyed toddlers, Bubba-Licious, at Adelaide Fringe.

WORDS: Anastasia Vento

On Saturday, we enjoyed Bubba-Licious, a sensory display of colour, sound and movement for babies and toddlers. The 30-minute show was held in Ukiyo at Gluttony, and from the moment we stepped into the tent, we were surrounded by happy and excited families. We saw shadow puppetry, bubbles (lots and lots of bubbles), singing, dancing, a giant caterpillar, and much more.

The show had a friendly and enthusiastic host, who led the entire performance. She sang along with the children to much-loved songs such as, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Baby Shark, which naturally had all the children up on their feet and dancing!

The children were very amused by the giant caterpillar, which made its way through the crowd, making sure to meet everyone who’d come to visit! Later, we saw the friendly caterpillar turn into a beautiful, giant butterfly. But it wasn’t an ordinary butterfly; this butterfly sparkled in bright lights, and it flew over the crowd in the dim lit tent, sparking so much curiosity and wonder.

A delightful addition to the performance was shadow puppetry. We saw lots of animals, including frogs, which had everyone singing along to The Little Green Frog.

Though, what had the children super excited and on their feet were the bubbles. Almost the entire tent was decorated in bubbles, and everyone held out their hands to catch them (even the adults!)

Bubba-Licious is a colourful, fun, and entertaining show for babies and toddlers. So, if you’re looking for a family outing at Adelaide Fringe, then this show is perfect for you! It combines just the right amount of activities for the kiddos, such as singing, dancing, listening, and observing. It’ll have them amused from start to finish!

Catch it until to Sunday 17 March at Ukiyo at Gluttony – Rymill Park. The times are convenient, and you can choose from 10:15am, 11:00am or 11:45am before the kiddos nod off for a nap. Be quick as tickets are selling fast!
