This exciting event aligns perfectly with Nature Festival’s mission of promoting the health benefits of connecting with nature and ECH’s celebration of its 60th anniversary, marking a special occasion for both organisations.
The workshops, led by ECH’s Social Connections team, aim to inspire intergenerational play, fostering connections between children and older adults through nature-based activities. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Carrick Hill’s gardens, participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on experiences that celebrate nature, art, and history—two key pillars of ECH’s Community Engagement program.
What to expect at the workshop:
- Bee Art Installation: Participants will create bees from natural materials to contribute to an ephemeral art installation at Carrick Hill. These eco-friendly artworks will eventually return to the earth, echoing the festival’s theme of sustainability.
- Found Objects Display: Families can explore the gardens, collecting objects to take home and display on a wooden stand in the style of Japanese Ikebana, encouraging creativity and a deeper appreciation for nature.
- Intergenerational Play Ideas: Attendees will receive a printed guide with simple activities designed to connect the generations, offering ideas for continued nature play beyond the festival.
In addition to the Carrick Hill event, ECH’s Henley Beach Community Garden will also host a special ‘come and try’ workshop on the 9th of October, inviting people to explore therapeutic horticulture while enjoying morning tea. This is a wonderful chance for attendees to experience the joy of gardening together while strengthening social connections.
This event promises to be a memorable celebration of nature, creativity, and community, offering an enriching experience for families and individuals alike. Be sure to book your spot and join in the fun at Carrick Hill this Nature Festival!
