The Design Files Kids Art Awards 2022 are here!

The Design Files Kids Art Awards will award prizes to 5 talented young Aussie artists. Young artists aged up to 16 are invited to create an A4-sized, 2-dimensional artwork in any medium, inspired by the theme ‘Home’. 100% of the entry fees ($5 per entry) will be donated to Children’s Ground – a community-led charity working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities over a 25-year period to make real and lasting change.

This week, The Design Files has proudly announced The Design Files Kids Art Awards 2022, proudly presented by Honan Insurance Group, alongside supporting partners Gro-To, Birkenstock and the Mercedes-Benz V-Class.

Now in its second year, this national art awards program celebrates kids’ unique creativity. The program aims to support Children’s Ground, a non-for-profit charity creating change within First Nations communities.

The Design Files Kids Art Awards will award prizes to 5 talented young Aussie artists. Young artists aged up to 16 are invited to create an A4-sized, 2-dimensional artwork in any medium, inspired by the theme ‘Home’.

Entrants are invited to paint or draw anything that reminds them of home. Their house, garden – or perhaps their bedroom? A treasured teddy or doll, a triumphant lego creation, a beloved pet, a family portrait – or a favourite home cooked dinner. Anything and everything that feels like home!

The awards program is open to all kids in Australia, up to 16 years of age, and an expert judging panel of Australian artists including Iconic Australian artist Ken Done, Award winning Melbourne based illustrator and artist Beci Orpin, and artist and Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay/Gummaroi man and artist Reko Rennie, will be tasked with selecting the 5 winners. Each winner will receive a $1000 cash prize.

“We created The Design Files Kids Art Awards Program, in partnership with Honan, as a joyful, inclusive national awards program that we hope will be an inspiring creative outlet for families and kids across Australia. It’s super easy to get involved, and the prizes are huge! We also feel very lucky to have an opportunity to use this program to raise funds and awareness for Children’s Ground, an indigenous-led children’s charity we have long admired,” said The Design Files Founder & Editor, Lucy Feagins

100% of entry fees ($5 per entry) will go to Children’s Ground, a non-for-profit charity creating change with First Nations communities, where children experience disadvantage at disproportionate levels. As a community-led organisation, Children’s Ground is building on the strength and culture of people and creating genuine, long-term opportunity.

Their vision is to work with a community for 25 years, replacing a history of short-term, ‘quick-fix’ approaches with a model which allows people to design their own future.
