Review: ILA Playground’s Sea of Light + Neon Canvas

A group of people stands in front of a vibrant mural depicting an underwater scene filled with colorful marine life.
There's still time to book ILA Playground's Sea of Light and Neon Canvas installations! KIDDO reviewer, Lauren, took her kiddo to the spectacular experience, and here's what to expect!

These two incredible interactive installations, Neon Canvas and Sea of Light, were so mesmerising, it made me (and my four-year-old daughter, Zara) pause in our busy day.

Sea of Light

First up was Sea of Light. This experience is like stepping into a magical underwater world – without getting wet! The ground is covered in hundreds of twinkling lights that respond to a magical brush you’re given to simulate brush strokes on the ground.

Zara enjoyed having me lay down while she traced around me. I admit, a little rest while she got creative was a win/win for everyone!

As she’s just learnt to write her name, it was adorable seeing her name light up the ground after she wrote the letters carefully with her UV torch.

Neon Canvas

As spectacular and peaceful as Sea of Light is, our favourite was Neon Canvas. Zara has just become interested in my iPad and a colouring app I’ve downloaded to keep her busy when I’m putting new brother to bed!

Imagine walking into a room where the walls come to life with vibrant colours every time you touch them with a special laser! Kiddos, it’s the ONLY time you’re allowed to paint on the walls!

You use the laser to colour an underwater world with giant fish and other spectacular creatures. With the click of a finger, you can choose from a rainbow of colours to complete part of the artwork. At the end, a giant wave comes crashing down, clearing the walls of the colour until a blank version emerges again for the next lot of little Picassos.

Two children joyfully playing a video game in front of a vibrant, colorful wall.

Whether you’re creating a swirl of colours or making bright dots appear, you’ll feel like an artist in this fun, colourful space.

Both Neon Canvas and Sea of Light are all about having fun with light and colour. It’s an immersive experience that encourages creativity and imagination.

There’s still time to have fun and make memories in these dazzling, interactive worlds! Book at the link below.

ILA Playground’s Sea of Light and Neon Canvas installations run until 26 January.
