Get ready for a day of family fun at the Prospect Spring Fair

Join the fun at the free, family-friendly Prospect Spring Fair on the 26th of October with live entertainment, kids' activities, food and market stalls, and the exciting Dachshund Mini Dash!

The Prospect Spring Fair is returning this year, and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever! Held on Saturday, 26th of October, from 10am to 3pm at Broadview Oval/Yarnta Tutu yarta, this community event promises a day packed with entertainment and activities for all ages. Whether you’re bringing your family, friends, or even your dog, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained.

The best part? It’s completely free, making it a perfect family day out that won’t break the bank. With a full schedule of performances, activities and food options, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

One of the highlights of the day is the Dachshund Mini Dash. This event sees sausage dogs from across the region competing to be crowned the fastest dachshund in the north. Last year’s race saw over 40 little pups battling it out for glory, with spectators cheering on their favourite furry competitors.

A variety of live performances will be taking place throughout the day, with local bands like The Drops (Blackfriars Priory School band) and the Adelaide Afrobeat Collective setting the tone with fantastic music. The Band of the South Australian Police will also be performing, along with a range of community groups offering everything from Zumba demonstrations to Bollywood dance performances.

For families with children, the fair will feature a wide range of activities to keep the little ones busy. There will be amusement rides, sideshow games, and a petting farm where kids can get up close with adorable animals. There will also be face painting, arts and crafts workshops, and a circus playground where kids can try their hand at juggling, hula hooping, and more.

Older kids and teens will love the youth market stalls, which give young entrepreneurs under the age of 25 a chance to showcase and sell their handmade creations. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the community to support these budding business owners while discovering some unique products.

No fair would be complete without great food and plenty of shopping options, and the Prospect Spring Fair certainly delivers on both fronts. Visitors can browse a wide selection of artisan market stalls selling everything from handmade jewellery and dog products to gifts and home decor.

When it’s time to refuel, food vendors will be on hand with a mouth-watering selection of treats. Enjoy hand-crafted wood-fired pizzas, delicious Greek donut balls, traditional poffertjes (Dutch pancakes), gourmet empanadas, and much more. Whether you’re after something savoury or sweet, there will be plenty to tempt your taste buds.

For those seeking a more relaxing experience, the fair’s Wellness Sanctuary will offer a peaceful space to unwind. Take a moment to escape the hustle and bustle of the day and enjoy some relaxation time before heading back into the festivities.

What’s more, the Prospect Spring Fair isn’t just for humans—it’s a dog-friendly event, so don’t forget to bring along your furry friends! In addition to the Mini Dachshund Dash, there will be dog racing demonstrations by local flyball clubs, showcasing some impressive canine speed and agility.

There will be a “Come and Try” area featuring local sports groups like the Broadview Football Club and North Adelaide Croquet Club. It’s the perfect opportunity to try out a new sport, meet some friendly locals, and perhaps even find a new hobby.

Join in the fun with a packed programme of entertainment, activities, and delicious food, the Prospect Spring Fair promises to be a fantastic day out for the whole family. Whether you’re there to see the dachshunds race, sample local food, or simply enjoy a day in the sun, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
